Hyundai Verna Review

HYUNDAI VERNA

The striking thing about the Verna’s styling is the broad C-pillar and the very short boot-lid that makes it look almost hatch-like. It has a spacious interior and several features like automatic climate control, electric door mirrors, etc. The Verna comes with 1.6 pet-rol or 1.5 diesel engines. The petrol has a variable valve timing system and the diesel a variable geometry turbo. This engine is extremely smooth and there is a surge of power once the turbo starts singing, transforming the Verna into a fiendishly fast car. It is very manoeuvra-ble and easy to drive, with the gear shifter action being effortless. The steering is precise but feels light at high speeds and the handling at the limit is also a little nervous. Fatter tyres and a stiffer suspension should help, and maybe Hyundai should look at a sports package. The ride and braking are reasonably good with ABS and discs on all four ends being available as an option. A must-have if you go in for the diesel.
