HYUNDAI SANTRO XING

The Santro has been the reigning ‘king’ of the small hatch market. It continues to be extremely popular. The interior is not that smart but its quality and intelligent use of space cannot be ignored; neither can its overall packaging. Other features include a small nippy engine, slick gearbox, respectable fuel economy, agility, compact size, decent ride and boot, proven performance and reliability, great service and fairly low cost of running and maintenance. The braking is also quite good.

HYUNDAI GETZ PRIME

Before the Getz could really establish itself, the Maruti Suzuki Swift arrived. Since then it’s not been able to match The Swift’s popularity and this is sad because it’s a very fine ar and has such a lot going for it. Very balanced propor-tions, a smart profile and a spacious interior with good fit nd finish. The boot is of a decent size and it has eager pet-rol engines (1.1 and 1.3) and a great gear shifter. And now it also comes with the Verna’s power packed 1.5-litre diesel ngine, which makes it amongst the fastest small hatches.
